Thanks to everyone that came out to the shows in New York and California last month! It was great to see so many of you. I’m hoping to be back on the West Coast this Fall for some more shows. Had an amazing time at the Grammys with the Healthy Food For Thought team… although the Grammy went to Julie Andrews I think we all were just so thankful to be nominated. MTV’s Cribs + Album Fundraiser + Shows in NY, OH, IL, IN, PA

We’re excited to announce a great fall line-up of shows! Please join us on as many dates as you can and pass on the word to your friends, colleagues and family. Chris Marolf (upright bass, kora, banjo, backup vocals) and Lars Potteiger (piano, accordion, backup vocals) will be joining me on a lot of the shows. Contact me by email if you have questions and/or want to help promote!
I finally made it to MTV… well, sort of. I found out while reading my BMI royalty statement that ‘Cribs’ had used my song ‘Black Box‘ in an episode… pretty cool. It played in the background, but hey, I’m not complaining. Hopefully it will help some more with getting the word out there.
Speaking of which… I hope you realize that you are a big part of why we’ve seen a substantial amount of growth over the past couple of years. I call it the “People Records” project. YOU are my record label. If it wasn’t for you telling your friends about me and my band and the songs we play, we’d be… well… no where! So, once again, thank you for that. I know I’ve said it a million times, but it’s one of those words you can’t say enough.
Here comes the hard part: I have to ask you for help again. Most of you know that the music business is NOT what it once was. Bands and artists rely a lot more on fan support now than they ever have. Sales of records have declined massively and digital sales are not keeping up with the decline. Unfortunately the cost of making a record, a good record with a great engineer knowing how to use great equipment (a lot of greatness there indeed) has NOT declined. It still costs money to make a good record.
‘Reverie’, my current studio album, was made largely with fan support. I’m calling on you to help me once again in making my next release a reality. We have come up with over 40 ways you can contribute to the new album and will donate part of the proceeds to benefit lymphoma cancer research. So, take a look at these options here. We think there’s something in there for every budget. Basically, the idea is this: The more you give, the more we record. Basta. So, please help us make it happen. I’ve got a pocketbook full of new songs (of which you will be hearing more and more of at the upcoming shows) and I want you to have them.

SACRIFICE EP
Today my 5-year-old nephew gets baptised at St. Michael’s (the ‘Michel’ as it’s referred to by the citizens of Hamburg, Germany). My brother and his wife also got married there on this day. So, what better date to release a couple of new songs… “This Sacrifice” and “Waiting for the Wave” are two songs we recorded during the REVERIE sessions but didn’t make the album. UK/GERMANY TOUR
I will be on tour in the UK and Germany with singer/songwriter Robert Carl Blank starting May 25th in Liverpool, UK. We have about a week’s worth of shows in England, then head to Germany for a one-week tour that starts June 7th in Berlin and culminates June 12th at the Prinzenbar in Hamburg! Details in the show listings here.
I will be playing a show tonight, Friday, May 14th at 7:30 pm in Hartford, CT, opening for Shawn Phillips at Audio Media Solutions. There are only a couple of tickets left, you can get them at http://audiomediasolutions.net/liveroom/tickets.html or by calling 860-643-9407.

NBC TV + 15 Date U.S. Tour!

To all of you that joined us on our recent tour of the Midwest, thank you! It was – as always – a pleasure to play for you and we’re grateful for the high turnout!
Many of you have supported us this year and it has allowed me and and the band to grow into new markets. It means a whole lot to us since we work very hard, so, to see this kind of growth has been very rewarding.
Please do consider giving the new album “Reverie” as a gift to your friends. It will help me and the band to continue to do what we do. In fact, we’re planning on releasing a couple of bonus tracks off the album early next year! Elliott Murphy – who hasn’t toured in the U.S. in 8 years – will be joined by his guitarist Olivier Durand on all shows. Now living in Paris, France, Elliott tours all over Europe and has quite a history as an artist, performer and songwriter. We’re very excited to be sharing these dates with him! Spring Tour starts this Friday in Philly!

It’s that time again! Starting off our Spring Tour will be a show at Philadelphia’s Tin Angel this Friday, 4/11 at 7:30 pm. The following two weeks are packed with dates in upstate New York, Ohio and Michigan, concluding with a show in NYC on April 27th at the Metropolitan Room for Jeffrey’s 2nd annual fundraiser benefiting the Project Welcome Home Troops.
As we’re promoting the new album, Reverie, we’re hitting some new towns, radio stations and venues so please do tell your friends about the tour. Specifically, Cleveland’s The Winchester, Akron’s Northside and The Modern Exchange in Southgate, MI. As far as radio is concerned Lars and I will be playing on WEOL and WAPS (The Summit) in Akron as well as WCSX in Detroit. I’m also excited to play a special event for AFS, the exchange student program that brought me to this country. This show is taking place at Rocky River High School on April 22nd and is open to the public.

Performance on NBC TV Philadephia

RTL TV did a short feature and interview with Jann which aired on “Guten Abend RTL”. Many thanks to RTL’s Astrid Rolle for the interview!
