A belated happy new year to you! We’ve got some great shows coming up this and next month, including New York City, California and a special show in Tarrytown, NY opening for Rusted Root!
As most of you already know we’re part of a great compilation album called Healthy Food For Thought: Good Enough To Eat which has been nominated for a Grammy! The album raises money for the NY Coalition for Healthy School Food and includes a wide array of musicians and poets, including Julian Lennon, Moby, Russell Simmons, Tom Chapin, Uncle Floyd and Trout Fishing in America. This Friday’s CD Release Party at Peter Max Studios (who also created the album’s artwork) is already SOLD OUT but you can find out more about this fantastic double CD here at http://www.healthyfoodforthought.com. The NY Daily News gave us a great write-up about
the album which you can read here: http://www.nydailynews.com – please use the share buttons to pass it on!
This Saturday afternoon between 1-4 pm, I will be playing at the 2nd Smile Revolution Concert at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. Also on hand will be Richard Barone, Deni Bonet, The Smile Revolution Band, The Roches and Mr. Sid Bernstein. Find out more about this kid-friendly event here: http://lepoissonrouge.com/events/view/1995
On Friday, February 11th Chris, Lars and I will be opening up for Rusted Root at Tarrytown Music Hall! I’ve had the pleasure of opening up solo for Michael Glabicki a couple of times but this will be the first time opening for the band. We’re very excited about this show and would love it if you could be in the audience to support us! Please do spread the word on this show as well. Tix available here: http://tickets.tarrytownmusichall.org
The following day, Saturday, Feb 12th, we’ll be playing a free show in my home borough of The Bronx!! The name of the venue is An Beal Bocht Cafe, a very cozy place in the Riverdale section of The Bronx. It’s easily accessible by taking the 1 train up to 238th Street. We’ll play from 9 to 11 pm. More info here: http://www.anbealbochtcafe.com
The following morning I’ll be getting on a plane to Los Angeles to attend the Grammys!! Exciting… I’ll be playing four shows while I’m out there, Los Angeles (2/15), San Diego (2/17), Tehachapi (2/18) and Long Beach (2/19)… please spread the word on these! Thank you! See show details at bottom.
Our new album fundraiser is going strong, thank you to everyone that has contributed so far. We’re hoping to reach $10,000 by the Spring but will start recording as soon as we hit $5,000 – which we are at the halfway point to! It means so much to us that you are part of it. Please do spread the word and follow the progress on this and other stuff on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter!
Cheers,

MTV’s Cribs + Album Fundraiser + Shows in NY, OH, IL, IN, PA
Posted: October 26, 2010 Filed under: General Stuff, Links, Live Shows, Music Release, TV Performance | Tags: Annie Haslam, black box, cribs, fundraiser, kora, mtv, people records, Reverie, Tour Leave a comment »Hi all!
We’re excited to announce a great fall line-up of shows! Please join us on as many dates as you can and pass on the word to your friends, colleagues and family. Chris Marolf (upright bass, kora, banjo, backup vocals) and Lars Potteiger (piano, accordion, backup vocals) will be joining me on a lot of the shows. Contact me by email if you have questions and/or want to help promote!
I finally made it to MTV… well, sort of. I found out while reading my BMI royalty statement that ‘Cribs’ had used my song ‘Black Box‘ in an episode… pretty cool. It played in the background, but hey, I’m not complaining. Hopefully it will help some more with getting the word out there.
Speaking of which… I hope you realize that you are a big part of why we’ve seen a substantial amount of growth over the past couple of years. I call it the “People Records” project. YOU are my record label. If it wasn’t for you telling your friends about me and my band and the songs we play, we’d be… well… no where! So, once again, thank you for that. I know I’ve said it a million times, but it’s one of those words you can’t say enough.
Here comes the hard part: I have to ask you for help again. Most of you know that the music business is NOT what it once was. Bands and artists rely a lot more on fan support now than they ever have. Sales of records have declined massively and digital sales are not keeping up with the decline. Unfortunately the cost of making a record, a good record with a great engineer knowing how to use great equipment (a lot of greatness there indeed) has NOT declined. It still costs money to make a good record.
‘Reverie’, my current studio album, was made largely with fan support. I’m calling on you to help me once again in making my next release a reality. We have come up with over 40 ways you can contribute to the new album and will donate part of the proceeds to benefit lymphoma cancer research. So, take a look at these options here. We think there’s something in there for every budget. Basically, the idea is this: The more you give, the more we record. Basta. So, please help us make it happen. I’ve got a pocketbook full of new songs (of which you will be hearing more and more of at the upcoming shows) and I want you to have them.
With gratitude always,
Jann
P.S. We will be sending out letters as well. Please make sure your mailing addresses are up to date on my list.

| Greetings!
After one of the hottest summers I can remember I’m looking forward to some cooler weather and have been working on booking fall and winter shows/tours. We are also planning a new recording to be released early next year. More on that real soon. Thanks to everyone that made it out to our last show at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City last month. It was great to see everyone. Since our shows in NYC have been well attended, thanks to you all, we thought we’d play a bigger venue. Fortunately it is right next door… it is Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 and it does the name justice. It is a great room – I went to a couple of shows there this summer and enjoyed them very much. So, if you’ve ever contemplated coming out to see us, now’s the time to take the plunge. We’ll be performing as a six-piece band (with more room for everyone!) on Sunday, September 19th at 7:30 PM sharp. And, we will be playing a slightly longer set. Hope you can make it. http://www.rockwoodmusichall.com Before above date I’d like to invite all my Ohio friends to a show in Cleveland next week! On Saturday, September 11th at 8:00 PM I will be opening up solo for one of my favorite bands, The Strawbs. Please spread the word! It’s been a long time since I’ve played in Cleveland. Tix and info at http://www.beachlandballroom.com - HEALTHY FOOD FOR THOUGHT COMPILATION CD “Give In To This Life” off Reverie is part of this two disc set. This double-CD raises money for the New York Coalition for Healthy School Food. It is a great cause. I think you should buy one of these. I really do. They are only $10 and besides my music you will hear songs and poems by a range of artist including Moby, Julian Lennon andTom Chapin. http://www.healthyfoodforthought.com - SPOTIFY – A MUSIC SITE Spotify is a new music site. While it is not live in the U.S. yet it is in the U.K. and a few other countries (check their site for updates). What I like about Spotify is that it actually works in this new music biz ‘model’ everyone is trying to sort out. I’m on it and get paid by them. Thank you very much for listening. Tune in http://www.spotify.com - DOING TIME MUSIC VIDEO Haven’t seen it yet? Why not? We think it’s good. Help us push the views over 3000 in the coming days! Please keep recommending it and posting it on your Facebook and Twitter profiles and where ever else people hang out these days… now hit this link: http://www.youtube.com/jannklose Please mark your calendars for below shows! We’ll be back in the Midwest for a tour this November 12-21 and I’ll be opening up for Renaissance’s Annie Haslam at the Sellersville Theater this December 18th and 19th. Also, we will be performing at the Lehigh Valley Music Awards Ceremony on December 5th at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Allentown, PA. Again, thanks for all the great support. We look forward to seeing you. Jann & Band http://www.jannklose.com |

Of course, if you want to buy it, I WON’T stop you… it’s on iTunes and Amazon now…
