Hi!

Hope you are doing well… I’m coming off an extremely busy but very rewarding month on the road… some really great shows. Thankful to have been surrounded by good people whereveer I’ve traveled. Many new and old friends made it out. Thank you for making time, getting in your cars or on the train and being there in person… and to those of you that couldn’t make it and cheered me on in writing, thank you as well. Here are some new photos from October’s tour dates added to my web site and Facebook and MySpace pages

This November, in addition to playing Long Island, Boston and New York, we’ll be returning to the Midwest for a week’s worth of shows. Lars will be traveling with accordion – aka “the squeezebox” – and bringing along his Nord 2 keyboard as well as his charming personality… now, why would anyone want to miss this? Well, I certainly would not. So, get your coats out and put down that remote and come see some live music. Still not available for free download anywhere ;-)

Hi - I’m writing to you from Galway, Ireland where I’ve got a (rainy) night off. Now just over half way through this four-week long European tour I’m looking forward to my shows in Ireland and the UK starting tomorrow night in Galway…. I’m listing the upcoming shows below, a little recap first:

I started this tour in Le Havre, France after flying into Paris. Had a fantastic time there. A very friendly welcome. Couldn’t have done the gig as succesfully without the support of Olivier Durand and the Normandy All Stars. Some of you know Olivier and the N.A.S. as Elliott Murphy’s band. I’ve had the pleasure of opening for him at his American shows, which many of you have been to. Elliott and his band will be back in the U.S. this December and we will doing a few more shows together… These guys are great. They also learned what seemed to be almost all the songs off “Reverie” – Merci beaucoup to all  that made it out!

After a day off in Paris I flew to Hamburg, Germany where I got to spend some time with my family… then did two shows in that beautiful town… probably some of the best nights I’ve seen there. Especially Friday night at Silber with Duncan Townsend on the bill was just a fabulous evening. Check him out if you get the chance.

The most exotic journey of this tour so far occurred the following day when I flew to Tbilisi, Georgia to play at a festival there. After being picked up at the airport in the middle of night (the main time when flights arrive/depart there, probably due to its proximity to Europe, Asia and the Middle East – it being in the heart of the South Caucasus), I was taken to my hotel. A tour of this ancient city, founded in the 5th century followed the next day. I found this place to be very colorful and filled with hospitable people. Part old Russia, part Middle East, part Asia, it feels Western in its commercial pursuits. I plan to be back for next year’s festival.

On to Leipzig, Germany from there where I played for the first time after lunch at Leipzig University who helped make the show possible. I’m adding pictures to my facebook profile (http://www.facebook.com/jann.klose) as I’m going along… if you’re not on facebook, no worries, I will put some up on my site as well. After Leipzig, on to Berlin! I’m really starting to fall in love with that city. Shows there get better all the time… thanks to all that came out and made it another good night in the German Capital.

Alright, hope to see you at these upcoming shows! Please let your friends and/or family know… thanks all!

JK

REVERIE radio airplay passes 100 FM Stations!!

It appears as if we’ve just added the 100th station to play songs from Reverie! Ironically the station is not in the U.S. but in Indonesia and is called Prambors FM. Here at home, another station that started playing Reverie this past week is WUSB (Stony Brook University). So, thank you to all of you that called stations or recommended stations to us. You helped make this happen. Remember to support your local public and college radio station since they’re all that’s left on American FM radio that still has a choice of what they play. Otherwise it’s iPod time … so, download Reverie if you haven’t yet and call these stations if you’re near them!! Here’s a full list for you to check out. Thanks to Peter Hay and Anne Leighton for their hard work.

As always, thanks for reading.

Please take a minute and vote for my touring buddy Joe Deninzon and his band Stratospheerius in the Radio Crystal Blue Airplay Vote… if you remember, your vote got me all the way into the final last year and they’ve been playing me ever since. Hi,

A couple of NYC shows coming up in March that I would like to invite you to! The first one is at our “other home” in the city, Rockwood Music Hall on Sunday, March 8th at 8 pm with the band.

The second show marks my debut at Joe’s Pub and takes place the following Sunday, March 15th at 7 pm. That one’s with Chris on upright bass. Also on the bill is my friend Ben Arthur featuring Pulitzer-nominated author David Gates.

As we’ve been on the road a ton over the past year there’s been little time to set up shows in the city so we’d love for you to join us and check out some new material as well. For those of you not in or around NYC, check out some new YouTube video additions. Also, “Remember Your Name” is up on MySpace now.

Mar 8, 2009 Sunday, 8:00 PM: Rockwood Music Hall, New York, NY
196 Allen Street, New York, NY 10002. Cost: $5 suggested donation. Phone: 212-477-4155. Web: www.rockwoodmusichall.com – Located between E. Houston and Stanton. Take the F or V subway to 2nd Ave stop.

Mar 15, 2009 Sunday, 7:00 PM: Joe’s Pub w/ Ben Arthur, New York, NY
425 Lafayette Street, New York, NY 10003. Tickets are $12 and you get a free subscription to New York Magazine! Web: www.joespub.com – Located between E. 4th and Astor Place. Take the 6 to Astor Place and Lafayette Street/4th Avenue or the N/R/W to 8th Street/NYU at Broadway.

Hope very much to see you there!

Greetings!

I’m back in the frigid Northeast after almost 3 weeks of tour dates in California. The trip was a blast… can’t wait for the next one. Opening the shows for Elliott Murphy and his guitarist Olivier Durand has been a rewarding experience in many ways. On this second leg of the tour I finally got to do some jamming with both of them! I’ve updated my flickr with lots of new pictures, from this tour as well as from other shows, including one of my bassist Chris Marolf and I jamming with Rosanne Cash, Roger McGuinn, Marty Stuart, John Leventhal and others at the Martin Guitar 175th Anniversarty Concert last fall. Take a look on my website, MySpace or Facebook/iLike.

Thanks to everyone out in California for your support and making me feel welcome. Having so many of you come out to the shows and taking the time to get together and hang out was a pleasure. I hope to back out West soon.

SHOWS THIS AND NEXT MONTH:

2-5-09: Clear Conscience Cafe, Cambridge, MA
2-19-09: World Cafe Live, Philadelphia, PA
2-21-09: Crossing Borders Live at The Lost Dog Cafe, Ithaca, NY
3-8-09: Rockwood Music Hall, New York, NY w/ Band!

Looking forward to seeing everyone! Please tell your friends. Details and directions for all upcoming shows are on my website Tour Page and on MySpace.

Cheers,
Jann
