We’re back in New York after two weeks of tour dates in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. Had some really nice shows and made lots of new friends. Thanks to everyone that helped make this leg of the tour such a success. We have a little time off before Lars and I hit Upstate NY this coming week, then doing a NYC show on Friday, May 16th, 8 pm at Rockwood Music Hall with the band!

I haven’t had time to post pictures of the tour yet but will hopefully get to it after we finish up with this next leg of the tour. In the meantime you can check out these pics that were posted by cleverock.com who came to our show at The Winchester (which is btw my new favourite venue in Cleveland!). Also, the Philadelphia Daily News wrote about Reverie: “Ear-grabbing pop singer-songwriter has a confident yet gentle voice, with tints of soul, gospel and Afropop rhythms.” Thanks to everyone that came out to our Tin Angel show!

While it’s been a really hectic schedule, the response we’re getting from the audiences and local radio makes it all feel so worth it. When we came through Northeast Ohio we did a taping for a show on Akron’s WAPS, 91.3 The Summit with Tom Ball, aka Twistin’ Tom, during which we played a lot of songs from the new album. I also ended up doing an impromptu cover of “Carpet of the Sun” by Renaissance and got to DJ some of my current favourites bands. The show will air later this month - I will let you know when we get an air date.

This coming week we are going to be playing on WAER Radio in Syracuse, NY Thursday, May 8th. We’re doing a pre-taping that morning that I believe will air on the station sometime between noon and 3 pm. They’re on 88.3 FM and the web site is WAER.org if you want to tune in online. We’re also going to do an in-store performance and CD signing at Big Apple Music which is a music and audio/video store located in New Hartford, NY. Friday night we’ll be at one of our favourite spots upstate called The College Street Cafe. That’s a 9 pm show and I will have Lars Potteiger with me on all these. You can check out Lars’ solo work at myspace.com/larspotteiger.

A bunch more stuff is coming up this Spring and Summer including performances at the New York Book Festival in Central Park, Bronx Week, MusikFest, Fairfax Corner Summer Concert Series and a few others that we’re still working on. In July I’m heading to the UK to do my first solo tour over there. I’ll be performing in London, Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry and a few other locations, including a spot at the Kenilworth Festival on Saturday, July 19th. After that date I’m heading to Germany where I will meet up with Chris. We’re planning on him joining me on bass for a few shows that we’re currently working on setting up. We do have a date in Berlin, that’s on Wednesday July 23rd with a local band called Stylblyten.

Looking forward to keeping the music coming and hope to see many of you this week and on May 16th in NYC!

Hey folks -

It’s that time again! Starting off our Spring Tour will be a show at Philadelphia’s Tin Angel this Friday, 4/11 at 7:30 pm. The following two weeks are packed with dates in upstate New York, Ohio and Michigan, concluding with a show in NYC on April 27th at the Metropolitan Room for Jeffrey’s 2nd annual fundraiser benefiting the Project Welcome Home Troops.

As we’re promoting the new album, Reverie, we’re hitting some new towns, radio stations and venues so please do tell your friends about the tour. Specifically, Cleveland’s The Winchester, Akron’s Northside and The Modern Exchange in Southgate, MI. As far as radio is concerned Lars and I will be playing on WEOL and WAPS (The Summit) in Akron as well as WCSX in Detroit. I’m also excited to play a special event for AFS, the exchange student program that brought me to this country. This show is taking place at Rocky River High School on April 22nd and is open to the public.

Hey folks -

Hope everyone’s doing well. I’m off the road for a few weeks and we’re spending the time working on bookings for the Spring and the Summer. We got a lot of dates added already and will be making trips to some of our favorite spots as well as hitting a bunch of new cities and venues. Besides a few shows in NYC (Rockwood Music Hall on 3/28!) we’ll be touring through PA, NY, OH, MI, MA and CT in April and May.

Here’s a few other exciting news bits: I got a mention on Jazz.com in an article about the “State of Jazz Vocals Today.” Read it here and feel free to comment!

This August we’re playing at the Bethlehem Musikfest! The festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and runs from 8/1 to 8/10. We’ll be on the Songwriters Stage on the 10th. Other performers include Jethro Tull, Rosanne Cash and Earth, Wind & Fire! Holy %#@!

Check out the March issue of Cleveland Magazine for a nice write-up of Reverie by Jim Vickers. Also, Sea of Tranquility reviewed the new album - click here to read and comment on the review.

Last but not least, I made the cut for the Radio Crystal Blue Airplay Vote again. Please vote often! I’m in CD bracket #10. There are a lot of very talented indie musicians nominated. If you want to know who I like, check the links page ;-)

Cheers,

JK & Band

Hey folks -

The album is off to the printer! Can’t quite believe it yet. We’re almost there. We’re taking advance orders for it as of tomorrow, November 5th at jannklose.com You can also pre-order at our tour dates this week and we’ll send out copies on or after November 30th, which is the official release date. If you pre-order at a show you’ll get a free copy of the Single on CD. By next month we’ll also have T-shirts, Posters and Stickers for sale at shows and on the web site.

This week Lars and I will be back at some of our old favourites in North-East Ohio: The Beachland is this Wednesday, November 7th at 8 pm with Stratospheerius and Ryan Montbleau Band on the bill as well. Thursday night we’re back at Sonnet’s in Wadsworth for a double set and Friday we’re in Youngstown, Ohio at a new venue, the B & O station. Stratospheerius is on that bill as well.

In addition to those shows we have a Stratford, CT show on November 17th and a NYC show at the Rockwood on November 27th. Contrary to what I wrote in my last newsletter, this will NOT be the CD release party since many people have said that they wouldn’t be able to make a Tuesday night show. So, we’ve moved the NYC CD release party to Friday, January 25th at 8 pm at Rockwood. Please do mark your calendars for this one. It’ll be a full band show with special guests.

Friends in Germany: I’m coming home for the holidays and will be playing in Hamburg and Berlin, Dec 28th and 29th at Kukuun, Hamburg and January 4th at Zimmer 16 in Berlin. Also on the bill is Stylblyten and I will have special guest Anne McNamee opening on the Friday night show, Dec 28th in Hamburg.

More details to come on all of this as well as a few upstate NY shows beginning of December…a lot going on right now…thanks as always for your continued support!!

JK

Hi!

Just sent the album off to mastering last weekend … ok …so, we’re on track with a late November release. September was hectic again with a bunch of shows in the North-East. Played at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY. That was good. The students seemed to be really into my set. Also went up to play the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, MA for the first time. Nice audience and one of the best open-mics I’ve ever been to, run by Geoff Bartley. Hope to be back in the Boston area in January or February for a full show.

October 23rd we’ll be back at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC with the full band. That’s a 7 pm show. Hope you guys can come out and hear us. Thanks to everyone that came out last week to the Cutting Room for the Education Through Music event. Broke a string on our second song …ugh…but then a guy by the name of Dan Zaccagnino lent me his guitar for our remaining couple of songs. I didn’t have a chance to thank him but will look him up online.

The next couple of months will be busy with finishing album artwork and some travelling. We’ll be in NE Ohio and CT early November for a few shows. Over Christmas and New Years I’m going to be in Germany and am doing a couple of shows in Hamburg and Berlin. Those will be CD release parties as well. Then I’m off to play at the NAMM Show in California. That’s at the Anaheim Convention Center in L.A. (Martin Guitar Stage). I’m planning on doing a few more shows in Southern California and maybe Phoenix around that time (middle of January 08).

Thanks to everyone that’s sent such positive feedback on the new single. It’s been getting a lot of plays on myspace and in various podcasts all around the world. Pretty amazing what the internet has done for music. Check out the podsafe music network if you’re into podcasting.

More soon!

JK
